hehe, I like the "flat" style... never saw that before... hum, wait, oh yes, I remember South Park now :p
But, I think grass and leaf brushes from Photoshop7 are too "recognizable". I mean, the first tought I had while viewing this drawing was: "hey, these are PS7 brushes" :D
Not a big crit, but I think originality is the best way to do good stuff...

darker!! ;P (i think)
i donno.. maybe apply the effect on the whole picture (like a layer or something)
more of an orangy sunset feel.
very typical i guess.. but i think it'll look cool
anyways, think i'll shut up now.

I have ahd also a problem
While i was workin i saved (wrongly) a 50% scaled version. I was start with a 2000 x 2000 pixels image
best way to come back in scale without loosing resolution?

Interesting :)
The background color should be changed to dark blue and black, to emphasize the dark night. (just an opinion)
I noticed that he has striped socks (seems unprofessional, just seems a bit weird, just an opionion).
By the way what is he actually doing cutting up leaves? (training)
Overall I think it's very artistic :)

It beautifull, my suggestion would be that, it seems that you have attempted to go for that psudo japanese-style painting.
So for that,
: Remove the tree, or the leaves. If you keep the tree make it more brush-stroke like. The leaves are way to preset.
: Grass looks fine, just more at the bottom.
: For the background I'd use a light grey and white clouds, motion blurred then gaussian blurred to gice a kind of psudo paper feel. Alternatively, use light brown instead of light grey.
It coming along nicely!

Me like.
Me suggestion: tilt his head back abit. Looks like he is looking at the ground. Even a 'flat samurai' would keep his head up :)
Slicing leaves in half is good practice with a sword. :)
