View Full Version : cloth animation help? tutorials?
two.oh 11-16-2002, 09:45 PM im trying to animate a character getting out of bed and walking, but i cant seem to figure out how to get the sheets moving.
would i simply just use the cloth animation in maya to do it? does anyone have suggestions? any tutorials too?

You can make the sheet from a nurbs plane and make a couple of blendshapes out of it. It would take less time and people wont really pay attention to your sheets anyway. That is, if you are concentrating on the character. Setting up collision objects, and tesselation parameters for cloth might take you too long.

it will be animated though as the character gets out of bed. so it would make a difference though right?

You can animate blendshapes really easily. Im just suggesting this as a possibly easy way to do it. It will take less time in my opinion. You can downlaod this and see what I mean. I made it in about five min, just to show you blendshapes. Open up the blendshape editor and you can play with the sheets.
