orig inal thread starts here:

This thread will eventually become a short I will post updates from different stages in the process. Right now its the character and propps.
The figure is done it in Chavant clay before sculpting it in maya. Its based on a selfportrait i did.

I tool 15 degrees images with my digital camera and did a modeling camera in maya with 15 degres iterations 360 degres of the actual sculpture.

yr off to pretty much good start... from the look of your mesh I think you plan to animate it heavily....

Thanks alot. Yes it will be animated in the end.
Yes i did model the original clay figure as well. Its in 1/1 scale made out of chavant clay. Marvelous to work with as it doesent dry and you can soften int with heat or make it firmer using cold spray for detail carving :-)

I resculpted my head for another project that came up. A little green alien like crature. As soon as i finnish this project i will continue with my selfportrait and more.

The alien that came out of my selfportrait was for a commercial we did, Its the alien commander in the tv set seen in the presidential room, I will continue soon as Im planning to use the model in a short called the nineteenth talker that we are working on...

Heres the latest update i worked on the colormap and specularmap. Its handpainted in Zbrush using different aplhas as well as the projectionmaster but mostly the plane 3dtool with skintextures. The specular map was also painted as well i took the zmapper function to extract cavity mapp information that i reaplied back to the specmap for pore texture oclusion . I will soon begin to setup the head in Renderman Rat. So I have to paint subsurface mapps. In the current render i just used mentalray and the sunsurface tab in regular blin that was shipped with maya8. I rendered out a turntable as well. Se link.

I modelled my Dolce & gabana glases for the figure and textured the eyes. Now ill begin with the moustache and sideburns as well as eye lashes and eyebrows. And setup in RAt renderman, Fur maybe.. Ill have to fix some issues around the eyes as well..

Here is a work in progress, Right now im working on the subsurface atributes in Renderman Im tweaking Albedo map as well as overall texture fixes. Also im working on a kalashnikov machinegun that the character will have...
