View Full Version : Lightning, how?
fakinblues 10-30-2005, 08:26 AM Hello, I need a little help, because I don't know how to make lightningh bolts (similar to force lightning from star wars) in 3dsmax. I was thinking of using splines, but that will be a huge amount of work, and I don't know how to animate them. Also, can I use a particle system? Can I make particles follow a random path and how (because I don't know much abotu working with particles)? If you know, please help.

Not that I know of. There is a plug-in (http://www.plugin.com/product/10360), but I don't want to buy it just for one scene.

Pete Draper made a great tutorial for lightning with the pflow system. I didn't see it up on his site http://www.xenomorphic.co.uk/ so it must only be in his book.
I think the book is awesome, but your milage may vary.
