I'm in the process of building a robot for fun... not sure what I'll do with him just yet though. I did not do a reference drawing for this guy, so he's going to be a freehand model... making him up as I go.
I appreciate C&C for the design and modeling elements... the textures are super generic right now (just so you know that I know http://3dbuzz.com/vbforum/images/smilies/wink.gif ).
Here's a few shots of the model to this point;
I'm still working out how to make the gear works in the main body section interesting, but the gears are at lease animated and it gives a basic idea of what I'm after.

Here's a shot of the palm;

The rigging for the head (if you can call it that) is more or less in place. Still needs more features though I think, not busy enough for my liking but I'm not sure what else to add in. The whole head section pivots on one axis, each joint allows for the up and down movements while the base provides the side to side rotation.
The Mechanical Iris is able to dilate as well. The iris is a cone with an Edit Poly modifier. I wired one of the radiuses to a custom attribute in the LookAt target for the eyes.

I got a program from someone on 3dbuzz.com that will create an animation of an oscilloscope visualization for a sound file, which I will eventually use to animate the screen that acts as the mouth. I'm intending to put in some rust, paint chipping, rough spots, etc. when I get to texturing, but right now I'm just trying to knowk out the basic shape (texturing isn't my forte). The tough part is getting enough random junk into it to make it look believable (and functional enough to animate).
I could also use some suggestions for the feet... I'm not sure how I'm going to go about building those yet. I'm thinking to make something rounded and shoe like, but the bend in the toes is going to be a problem. Any thoughts?
This is my first WIP here, I appreciate any input!
