Hi
ive made a simple model of a building broken into pieces and id like to use rigids to make it collapse. now i know that maya doesnt like it when the pieces are right next to eachother at the beginning of the simulation, so i made all the pieces intercollide. then i put a passive ground plane under the building (with some space between)
so far so good...
i start the simulation, and all the pieces start falling, but then as soon as the first piece hits the ground plane, everything stops (but the timeline keeps running.
now, if i go back to frame one to restart the simulation, NOTHING moves. after this i cant get any rigids to work, and i have to start all over again. sometimes i get warnings about cycle -f or whatever, sometimes not even that.

what could it be?

thanks,
G

I had the same trouble not so far ago during falling stones' animation.
Problem disappeared when I've completly deleted CPS scripts (cps was writen for maya 6+).
I don't know why, but it was hump with some maya's 7 functions, completly regardless of script's role (dynamic, rendering multiframes etc).
If you havn't cps installed make sure solver's cache is turned off and you havn't any bizzare values in solver's settings.
If all settings are ok but problem not passing, maybe try to go over this issue in other way.
Make copy for each object, reduse them, scale by ~0.95 (after center pivot previously) and parrent original, full detailed objects to scalled and reduced copies.
Turn copies into rigid bodies without intercollision.
It should highly simplify rigid calculations and make no more troubles.

ps. Sorry for my english, i'm still learning ;/
