What is the best way to start creating blend-shapes of just one poly body part, like the head?

I have a fully rigged body, with painted weigths and ik`s and the rest.

Now I want to start adding blend-shapes.
But I just want to "blend" the face of my model. How can I do this?

If I just select the base shape -> Create Blend Shape and Add some new Blend Shapes; will I have at end while moving the joints some problems., because of the whole body will duplicated and by fading in the blend shape will go to the "open arms" position  which I didn`t change from the base.

How can I just duplicate the head and add to the base shape some Blend Shapes?
I have read that it would be better to start first Blend Shapes and then Binding the Skin? What`s the right timeline?

Thanxx for your help...

I found the solution in that thread below: "help with blendshapes!"

http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=285010&highlight=blend+shape

just 3 clicks and it works pretty well:bounce:

BUT...
If a fade one of those added blendshapes to 1 - the head and the legs and arms are moving upwards without the binded skeleton.

Is there any solution to fix that???

I'm having the same problem more or less...I'm searching around, but can't seem to solve it. I feel like a dolt, but this is my first attempt at this. Here are some screenshots of what I'm experiencing. I too am trying to add blends to an already skinned mesh.
