well, I have two joints that makes a bone...as you probably know then when you move the root joint then the whole bone moves but when you move the second one then it moves without moving anything else.....basicly I want my bone to be static so that I can move either of the joints and then the whole bone moves...I'm probably still explaning in a cryptic way...if so then say it to me :D

ok i see your point ! but i still ask me why you wanna do this. but anyway.

with joints it will be virtually impossible (at least how far i can think right now). because they live in a hirarchie. if you would like to move the child and then the parent should follow you normally do that by parenting. BUUUTTTT the child is still parented under the parent. so how parent the child to the parent (impossible)

ok let's think of another thing. constraint). also not possible i would say. just because of double transforms.

so i would say, just give me a hint what you wanna realize, then i can think of a way to do that, ok !?!?

well, I wanna do a piston anim...I found a tut on a train piston anim but there was no pics or anything.....so I tried setting up a skeleton myself....the static bone would be the stick between the piston and the uhm....dunno what it's called in english hehe :)

By looking at the file in notepad then it looks like he's using Maya 4.5 :)
