View Full Version : JENNA update/fix
Tank_3D_Attack 10-27-2005, 09:22 PM A few issues have been addressed in JENNA 2.25.
NICKL and displaceVIEW should be working correctly now.
The location of the manual has also changed from the old location:
caJENNA/res/gui/documentation
to:
caJENNA/documentation
Please note that this will affect installations of VIXOL, RALF, and CPT. Their manuals will not launch from the titlebar in the Attributed Manager unless manually moved from (plugin)/res/gui/documentation to (plugin)/documentation.
Overwite the caDATATYPES folder with the one included with this update, and replace the caJENNA folder completely.
To get the update, simply download JENNA again with the link you were provided when you registered.

thanks for the update...
regarding the above quoted instructions - is this the same as replacing both folders completely? it seems like "overwrite" and "replace completely" are the same thing - or does something different happen with each process? maybe it's a PC thing?

Hmmm some are having problems downloading from their original link, and others not....so all I can suggest is that you re-register. Only takes a minute and the update is worth it ;)

Typically, we would suggest overwriting everything.
The reason that we suggest "replacing" the caJENNA folder is because the location of the manual has changed. The manual makes up the bulk of the file size, so replacing the folder completely ensures that no disk space is wasted by having two manuals in different locations (which would happen if you overwrite the folder).
However, everything should work fine whether you replace or overwrite.
Sorry for any confusion. I will watch that in the future. =)

As for download issues, the new shop and download system were written completely from scratch, so technically they are still in their infancy. The download system admittedly needs a little refinement, and that will be addressed as soon as possible. =)
Thanks for your patience everyone!

Followed the instructions to the letter to be able to see the docs from the title bar for both Vixol and CPT and I can't get it to work. Jenna works as expected, but there's nothing for Vixol and CPT. I am using the plugins in 9.5 on Mac OSX 10.4.2

Ok, this is another detail that got lost somehow.
Move the entire documentation folder to the plugin root and make sure the pdf is named "documentation.pdf".
My apologies.

Yay! Thanks for the update. And Cheers on the recent podcast, it had somehow slipped by me until now.

thanx a lot
Hi Tank,
isn't it possible to make DisplacementView working for Subpolydisplacement?
That would be very cool to paint displacement in Bodypaint.
Cheers pid

Since JENNA is free now we can't make promises on future development. We will have to see about that but other plugins have priority at the moment.

I have a functioning Jenna 2.2 and I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle of upgrading. Any compelling reason?

Hi, Adam,
I thought the same thing and took a chance last night and installed it in R9.1, before I installed in R9.5. Using DisplaceView it seems faster. No lock up when set to Scene, which used to *always* lock it up.
I'm sure there are other incremental improvements I will never run into.
Installlation was just deleting the folder in Plugins and copy/paste the new one in.
Piece of cake (I wish it were so easy in Rhino).
Be brave. Take a chance.
cheers,
larry
