Might this be available for Max 5 or anybody know of a way to import the .obj format?

try "obj max importer" in google :wip:
You will find free obj2max and max2obj.

Anyway, can't understand why this isn't standard now. obj is maya format, so discreet should put this standard...but well humm...

The version made for Max 4 also works fine with Max 5, the only problem I noticed yet is a weird uv problem when you export a mesh with mirrored uv as obj :) Ab
