Sorry, if this is a repeat post (or a very mucky area), but i couldn't find much of an answer floating around this board, or in various texts

When modeling areas that hinge open a closed (eyelids/lips), is it best to have a singly point for the corner where the object will pivot from, or two vertexes close together.

I have seen both done as many times one way as i have the other. For the lips it doesn't seem to matter much, but especially for the eyes- it seems as if having two vertex at the corner would make folding the lower lid under much easier.

Any comments? I do plan on animating these models, so they must be built as efficiently as possible for animation. Hope the question was clear enough.

*Points to the topology thread*

Anyways it would be alot easier to answer if you could post a wireframe of the issue ;)

I keep edges close together rather than having everything come to a point at the corners of the mouth and eyes. Checkout the book called Stop Staring: Facial Modeling and Animation Done Right -- by Jason Osipa
