View Full Version : 9.5 sky + alpha problem

I searched but couldn't find anything so I'll see if any of you have ran into my latest headache:

If you'll look at the attached image the bushes along the sidewalk have these blue flecks in them. It has something to do with the sky. (If you chance the sky color the flecks change to match) Any type of alpha mapped planting like a bush, tree, flower etc all produce the same results, these little blue flecks in the object. Usually if there's not enough transparency depth it renders black. I’ve played with different depth settings but nothing seems to matter. I've noticed this problem since I switched to 9.5 and started using the SKY. When using an O-zone sky I don't run into this. This frame was part of an animation that was supposed to deliver today but now it has to be redone. Any thoughts?

Another weird thing I noticed when using sky: Without sky if you hit the “render current object” button only that object renders. But with a sky object in the scene if you hit the same button the selected object and the sky render. Is this a bug? And could it be related to my alpha problem?

thanks

I haven't run into the alpha problem on vegitation yet, but have noticed that I can not isolate the sky. Using comp tags... it doesn't resond to object buffer or compositing background.

FYI

On further investigation, this appears to be a bug in the release version and should be fixed in the next patch. I'm sorry that I can't provide a definite timeframe for release of the patch. In the meantime, perhaps you could bake the sky into a texture map or render the bushes separately and composite them in post?
