Hi there!

I have to model a photorealistic panther. To know if I'm on the right way, I'd really like to get some feedback.
The panther is modelled in Silo and will be animated in in Messiah.
Somewhere in the process she'll become hair/fur. For now I need to get the model finished.

Here is a picture how she should look like. (It's the original panther the customer used till now)

And here is what I have done.

Here are two playblasts: wireframe (http://www.babylondreams.de/transferstuff/dallmeier/PantherWIP/plblpolys.mov), smoothed (http://www.babylondreams.de/transferstuff/dallmeier/PantherWIP/plblsmooth.mov)
I'd like to know what you think about the mesh and the overall form? Where do you think problems might arise and what can I do to avoid them?

Feel free to critise my work!

Just a suggestion:
I added some volume to the lower side of the neck, thickened the legs, added some detail to the ears, and softened the attachment between the body and rear leg.

remember hair adds volume....with furred characters the last 10% of modeling happens with fur...

@gjpetch
I like your suggestion. The ears are really nice, now I know what I didn't like about them ;) . Your neck looks better, I'll fix this.

The creases at the legs are looking better in your version, but I think I need them in animation. The softer version didn't deform right. I hope with hair/fur on it they will look right.

About the thickened legs:
@ el diablo: do you think they are thick enough or too thick the way they are now?

Hi!

I did some small changes. I added more loops to the back leg and the front leg for a better deformation. I added more volume to the front leg. The ear got more detail and the neck became bit heavier.
