I'm doing tests with the ocean shader (in 6.5), and am having a hard time figuring out the translucence function. I can get decent results if I turn on refractions in the shader, but I was under the impression it was supposed to work without refraction turned on.
When I turn refractions on the only thing that affects the how deep the water looks is the transparency.
Does the translucence depth have any effect of this material?
