CGTalk - Quick Question

Alright, I'm a beginner at this digital painting deal. Anyone is free to lead me to any tutorials, articles and such. I'm just wondering other then the software you guys use, which I know what is the standard an everything. Do you guys start out with a regular sketch on paper and go from there or do you just open up Painter or Photoshop and just paint/sketch from your head? I'm having trouble trying to do this thing with my itty bitty 4x9 wacom. Any tips would be appreciated. :)

Hi there,

It's best to look at the sticky threads at the top of the forum as everyone is at a different level. Lots of good links and book recommendations in there.
