i was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to do film hairs, cracks and dust in after effects. i trying to go for an old film look without the color changing........I'm trying to add some noise to the piece and think that it would help a lot but i don't have the $500 to by the plugins, if anyone can help it would be great,

you can do had drawn stuff

just draw a few different frame sequences in photoshop

or actaull try to grab stuff of old video

and then set there comps to loop and randomly place them in there

if you take your time it will look fine
it goes bye so fast no one will notice

just don't try to be to presise

get messy even draw it on paper maybe and scan it in

or find some cinalook plug-ins

-don't eat fish, it tastes bad

there is a really handy filter called 'aged film.' i'm not sure who makes it, but it gives you control over every aspect of film aging, amount, speed and colour of dust, hairs, scratches, as well as degradation of the film itself and frame jitter. if you can find it it's a really good tool.
