Hi everyone,

Today i`v started a project, i will try to model a ship witch i will combine with the matte painting i`v done today (see below). Now i`v got some questions; becouse i`v never modelled an ship or even a boat.
1) Do i need to use a special technique to model ships ? - basicaly how to start
2) are there some good blueprint sources with 18century merchant/frigate ships ?
- i did not found any good source for references/blueprints so far  ...

So if you could help me it would be awsome!
Thanks in advance :buttrock:

Theres a nice one on the second link, on the bottom row that is about the right angle for your ship, unfortunatly it is small.

As for tips, I think that the hull it self will not be a real problem. I would start with a cylinder or sphere, and work from that to the basic hull shape. I would add the masts, beams and perhaps the sails. The ropes I would leave for photoshop, although you could do them as well with your 3d program.

Good luck.
