View Full Version : Maya 4.5 UV Snap funcion in Texture Editor???
Mr Fudge 11-14-2002, 09:25 PM UV snapping in the Texture Editor
UV snapping is now available in the Texture Editor. Relative component positions are not maintained when snapping.
How do you snap??? And what is the key??? Can't find anything other than the above in the documentation.
Anyone know.
Thanks

In the UV Editor, select a UV...
Hit w to get the move manipulator...
Hold down the v key (snap to points)...
Move your UV, and watch in amazement as it snaps to others
Boy, I could really do with this just now. We're still using Maya 4 on our current job (no upgrading in the middle of a project and all that), and doing it by eye then sewing UV's, again and again, is becoming a real pain. Could do it in a fraction of the time if only I had snapping. Oh well, next time

Just tried that and no dice. AW have been promising this function since the arrival of v4.0. Would really love to know how. At least there is some reference to it in the documentation. Just not how to use it.
Anyone else got any clues?????

You sure Mr. Fudge? We're not using 4.5 in production but we do have it here, and that's exactly how it works for me. Though I should have mentioned it's a kind of proximity snap, a UV only snaps when it's dragged close to another UV. Maybe try that?

Yeah OK, that works. But why on earth would you want to snap any UV's to another one? What possible function could that serve? Seems utterly poitless to me. I was hoping you would be able to select a row of UV's and snap them along X or Z to any other UV. Now that would be usefull. Forgive me if I am being blind or narrow-minded.
