That price is unlawfull. Why dont they just merge with the oil companies.

Well it's actually older news. The Keynote was confirmed during the Conference. The Star Wars retrospective was a good bet (it might have been announced a couple months ago too).

Actually that price is a bargain. You do realize it's a 7 DVD set which includes 90+% of the sessions, especially if you are a member. With the compressed SIGGRAPH schedules it's nice to have a way to check out all the sessions (like Papers, Sketches, Panels and Courses) I missed because of schedule conflicts. It's even better if you missed SIGGRAPH but still want to check what went down.

I'm sorry, but no one will ever convince me that $250 for 7 DVDs is a good deal. THat price should be unlawful.

If you are a technical developer in a specific feild you had better get it since it has the most advance technologies being presented by the founders. So if you don't think that 7 CD's with all technical note's and presentations is not worth it then you should just go out and buy the 50 books that will try to cover what these CD's do. oh ya how much are those technical books, what 50 - 75 dollars. EASY TO SEE THAT IT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT......

Just because that's your opinion, doesn't make it true. Also with the books, I can read them anywhere, unlike with the DVD set I have to be around a tv and a dvd player.

bear in mind that at siggraph next year those notes will most probably get obsolete. IMO
