View Full Version : Very simple IK Question

I just made an IK_hierarchy for one leg following the turorialscenes in the messiahfile. Ok, so far so good, now I have one little problem with the rotation of the left food:


As you can see, I just moved the controlnull of the leg upwards, but the foodbone seems to rotating (in H-rotaion)-> The bone should keep the old orientation (no rotaion in H when moving the null).
Some help would be very nice - I hope you know the problem.

make sure the knee doesnt bend in pitch axis and make sure that you set the ankle as an IK anchor.

Anklenull is already anchor (named end_R in my case). How can I disable pitch rotating for a special bone?

Hi Philipp,

in the 'Animate/Inverse Kinematics' tab you can set the stiffness to 1.0 for pitch, that avoids the bending in that direction.

Personally, I don't quite like the leg rig described in the tutorials. You can check out this thread (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=284909&page=8) or this thread (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=270575) for further references on leg setups.

The for the links, the first one I already knew (absolutley incredible), the second one has great rigs. The tip with the stiffnes doesn't helped - the problem keeps.
