Currently learning drawing in perspective, i dont get is how do you know or measure the exactly lenght of the line towards the vanishing point, if you draw for example a box in perspective and you want all the lines to be the same lenght or some lines longer then the others? and how do you know at wich angle the object is rotated? and last question is
how do you divide the lines?

If you draw a rectangle in perspective, you can find its geometrical center by making a cross between the four corners. That should help you measure everything. :)

Hmmm, ok, it may not be able to measure everything, and it may not be what you're looking for, but it's useful nonetheless... I'll give it a go:


Draw a horizon
Draw two vanishing points on this horizon (as far apart as possible)
Draw a perspective rectangle, tracing one pair of sides to one vanishing point, and the other pair to the other point.
Draw an "x" in the rectangle, by connecting the four corners.
If you trace this X back to both vanishing points, it will intersect the four sides of the rectangle at their geometrical centers.
-Pretty useful, but like I said, maybe not at all what you're looking for. :)
