View Full Version : Is'nt there any solution ??(Loopable Particles)
harnain 10-19-2005, 11:22 AM hi , can anyone tell how to make loopable particles in a given frames .i am doing animation of some geometry falling done in a snow like manner and want it looped after 60 frames.
well i am using 3dsmax7 . i' ve tried paticle plus script but the drawback is it does'nt support geometry .tried loopable particle script on the scriptspot also but i think its not compatible with this version.
can anyone help ... any idea in maya ???
please reply ..

hmz...tricky one this.
One solution would be to teleport particals that go under a certain point (in the Z axis) back up to a fix high above. After they have all been created and got teleported once it would effectively start looping.
Not exactly sure how to do the "teleportion" bit though. Probably partical flow could do it.
Purhapes create a ground surface, and when they hit it they get placed back up near where they were created. (in Z that is, X and Y have to be intact).
I cant quite remember if PFlow has a "displace/offset partical" option though :-/

Hey there hairnain!
If you do a search you'll find a very usefull and elaborate description on how to make this work in these forums.
It has a lot to do with 2 particle systems with all of the same attributes except time. If you start one 1/2 before 0, and then the other 1/2 after 0 and render through to your finish they will loop.
If it's 100 frames and each particle system is active for 100 frames, start one at -50, and the other at 50.

Thank u so much aaraf ur method really worked , was a tricky and logically right.
Darkflame Logically you are right but i think the particles are generated randomly everytime. See when the first cycle of particle completes(when it will die coliding with the plane ) the second will not take that same position.
Although i have'nt used Pflow , please correct me if i am wrong.
Thanks for replying.

There is a method for creating a true looping particle system within PFlow, if you are interested, search for it at the orbaz forums. But if aaraaf's solution is working for you, there isn't much need.
