View Full Version : Final Render and Shag:hair

Does any of you succeed to render hair created with Shag:hair in Final Render with GI? Or is there any solution for successful mix of GI body with non-GI hairs? As I saw in tests Shag:hair fakes GI somehow but there is no proper shadows (GI) on object hair are connected to. Any tip would be helpfull.

Shag is an environmantal effect, so your options are either to fake it with a few lights which only illuminate the hair, and perhaps one which only casts shadows, or to use geometry hair and live with the resultant looooooooooooooong render times.

Personally I'd probably render the hair separately and comp it over the top of the GI render later, as it would be easier to tweek the look in post than inside Max.
