heres something I've been working on as of late.
Still fooling around with some stuff. Here's a link to a 360 turnaround in MOV format.
Wires will come soon. I forgot to render some out and I'm at work right now. Sorry guys I know how ya'll loves you some wires. ;)

really not loving the head, Im afraid I cant give any constructive crits on it since it would only be spelled with three capital letters :)

ditto actually, the head needs a lot of tweaking and love, but the body looks stellar!

looks alot like the heads been modelled with the old extrude button, get in there with the knife and carve a better one to suit the body.
I think I'm with the general concensus on this one ;) Mouth and bulb of nose forward, cheeks slightly up, brow a little down mate, imo ;)
Body looks very nicely worked out indeed, good sorta balanced feel. mmmm wires on the way, delicious wires hehe.

To all: Thanks so far. Heads are hardest for me for some reason. I'll be carving into him a little better when i get home (only six hours to go!) Is it just the shape of the head ya'll aren't feeling? To me I don't like the chin and under the chin area, and the back of the head. But you guys are probably seeing more than me.
Augh: Thanks for the pointers on what to push and pull.
I know its hard to crit without wires. They'll be up tomorrow, as my internet is down at home, and I'm not driving back to work just to put them up. ;)

The face looks flat on the front, try draging the edges back a little to form a rounder face...

Yeah I didn't realise until very recently how much of a bastard to model a good chin can be. I always just figured they resolved themselves... well, wrong hehe :) Definitely yeah I think the chin is seeming odd to me, possibly cus it's protruding forwards a fair bit (thus the mouth forward idea), the other thing to me is that there is a very pronounced "hoop" to his brow, this tends to my eye to give a sortof frightened look to a face often, or worried (though I have no idea who you might want this fella to be hehe). When I run into this, I just picture them wearing a golfing/poker dealer's visor :D Sounds really stupid, but it gets you looking at that area as being more straight across sortof. Maybe you get how I'm meaning.
Oooh, I just noticed maybe the throat/front of the neck are a little close to the chin in side view? That could help under there too.

The body looks great overall, watch the arm in the side view tho, it's too far in front. Also i get the impression the forearm is too curvy, the elbow is flexed towards the front, yet the hand is curving back...yes it's a minor detail, but i'm here to critique :D.
Simply rotating the wrist should take care of that.
Now onto the head...
The main problem is the loops of the face are non existant in profile view, as if you simply extruded the edges back without giving them shape, resulting in a very flat face.
The shape of the eye socket is way too big. Instead of ending the loop at the nostril, you should bring it up so its closer to the eye.
He's missing the "dip" between his nose and forehead.
Another problem is the chin vs. jaw, too much chin and too little jaw.
The best advice i can give you: try to model with a person's mugshot for your reference, also look at some wires and study them.
This should be a great model once you address those issues. Keep us updated.

see I really like the head! It reminds me of a cartoon came to life. Almost like it's a chracter straight out of Disney's Hercules or somthing! No sure if it was supposed to be like that, but that's the way I took it.

I personally think the head fits the body, looks kinda like how a Disney character would be. It will look a lot cooler once textured i think, good stuff, texture it ! :)

Thanks for all the feedback guys. The styling of the hair is disneyesque. I also drew some inspiration from the hero character "Kael" in Titan AE. (Sidenote: My character's name is Cail, but that name was picked out about 6 six years ago. ;)) I'm glad some of you like the face, but in truth, the head isn't up to par yet. I am still reworking it to get rid of the "flab" under the chin, enchance the jaw, and rework the brow and nose areas. The feedback has been spot on. I don't have an update today, cause I got "Shadow of the Colossus" yesterday, and that game is freakin fun!!! I recommend it. (No, I never played Ico) Al in all, I consider this my best character so far, even tho he still needs some work. Those of you who know me, know that my character modeling has always been a little..(and I hate to use this word...) meh. I'll be plugging away on it after work today, and will throw up some more pics tomorrow with some close ups of the head for you guys to review. Thanks again everybody. I always appreciate CGTalk feedback.

Here is an update on my knight.
Hi Wayne, i like it. The raised eyebrows, wide eyes and open mouth seem to give him a shocked look. Even lowering his eyelides slightly will make him look a lot cooler.

He looks like he doesn't want to do what it is he's going to have to do, like a Bruce Campbell character or something.

Hehehe I love the face comments. The truth is that, that isn't gonig to be his final face. I try to model initial geometry in the face very relaxed, with no emotion (I might have overdone the fear factor on him tho.) But it makes it easier for me to do the morph targets for his cute wittle expressions! ;) I'll post more when I can. Later guys.

So here's a little more. I fixed his expression to be a little more blank and less afraid. I also fixed a little bit in the chest and pelvic region, per another artist's observations. And made a comparison between the up to date and original.
