Would be interesting to see how the movie turns out given the "challenging" production.

How many penguin movies are in production?

Mmmh... not really a fan of the character design, but could be really fun. Pitty it's once again a theme that's being done by more than 1 studio at a time.

Maybe it's the small image, or the straight on pose, but the face of that penguin doesn't seem too expressive.

One other thing , which studio is doing this?

Let me extend on this and say: "Oh god not another CG movie where celebrity actors get all the attention".

Bitch, bitch, bitch....

It's like posting anything CG gives the same few people a chance to show how smart they are by nitpicking only. Funny how it's usually the same people giving the forearm shiver (football season, so I have to go with an appropriate metaphor) to one thing or the other. It's a frickin' poster.

If you don't like something about a shot or image, please use your vast knowledge and skills of expression to illuminate the problems for the rest of us so we can learn how to effectively eviscerate CG like a pro.

Please! I really wanna learn how to do it!

After reading the comments again, I see that they aren't so nasty. I guess it's just that I was reading some other threads of in-production films that were mercilessly trashed and I was reacting to those, with the expectation it will be the same on this one....which, I'm guessing it will.

It's a frickin' poster.

That's what I was commenting on... the penguin on the poster. The eyes especially didn't seem too expressive.

I believe it's Animal Logic in Sydney doing this one...

Aww I'll support this movie just because it's Australia's first CG movie! Plus I have a friend working at Animal Logic, hehe.

I think the penguin is pretty cute but I agree that it could be a little more expressive. It still has a whole 'nother year of production to go though so there's plenty of time for them to impress us with better posters and trailers.

Only 3 famous aussie names stand out to me in the cast list on that site! I would have thought there'd be more than that (sorry to any other aussie names you're not famous enough to me, hehe). And who is this elusive Messing? A relative of Madonna or perhaps Debra Messing from Will & Grace?

That is NOT the official poster, FYI.

What do you have against williams? If I am not mistaken he has only voiced in 2 movies? Aladdin (plus sequels) and Robots... I wasn't aware there were more?

Plus he carried aladdin so so well. Ah well.

One thing I will say against this movie though is it is sort of pissing me off how every cg/animated movie these days have to have the big budget stars.. what happened to old school disney and casting no names?

In addition that snap shot image was rendered last year. The look has come a long way since then.

In addition to "Robots" and "Aladdin", there were also these:

"FernGully: The Last Rainforest"

"Aladdin and the King of Thieves"

Bicentennial Man (maybe this counts, maybe it doesn't)

If you ask me though, some of his best work as an animated character was in the live action version of "Popeye" from 1980.

There is a thread from last year:

http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=157324&highlight=happy+feet+animal+logic

They just hired a new animation director after 2 years of production:
