A bizarre request. I am trying to animate a pool of bubbling mud, like at a hot spring. Any ideas on how to animate the thick bubbles that expand and pop on the surface?

Helllooo....anyone out there. Any ideas? I was thinking of modeling the bubble in different states of popping, then using the Object Replacement plugin. Is there a better way? Clip mapping, Effector plugin, particle system?

coincidently I was trying to get a water from a tap(faucet?) effect and it ended up looking more like clear mud, this was done with particles and HV`s

My first suggestion would be to make several morphs of the bubble elevating and popping, and then animate a transition between those. The popping part should be a different model that gets switched at the popping frame, since the bubble is not whole anymore.

Make a glass of smoothie or something, and blow bubbles in it, for a good reference of how the whole thing works.

Thanks, I figured something like that would work. It's always good to learn other's workflows. I think doing the morph thing in the foreground, and having a few blobby hypervoxels being shot into the air in the background should provide the illusion of a bubbling mud pit.
