Started working on WW1 British Mark I tank.
I'm heading to keep tris amount as low possible and full fill the detials with a normal map.

So far this is what i have in 30 minutes working.

not bad, but you should optimize the mesh, there are vew polys to much
for example, the top of the sidepart is segmented, but it dont need to be...

why are3n you working on max4 *G*

Thank you.
Ah yes, i know about these unused tris, i'll clean up after my high poly model is done.

I'm way too much used to max4, newer versions have some little changes and there is lot's of tools which i don't use when i model, for final stage procesing like normal mapping and exporting i'll do that in max7.

So here a update.
Huge increase in tris, which is now 944, and have cleaned all wasted tris and verts. I've still lot to model, but i want stay below 1500 triangles, not becuase this is for a game, but just for practice to keep data size low and get as much possible geometrical details.

i think the gun could have a bit reducion too...

so youre not familar with max7...
i could sove that problem. because i worked too long with max4, i made a custom ui for max7 wich looks almost exactly like max4 ui

The indiana jones tank!! i love that beats, looks good so far.
I have to agree with arrangemonk though, you canlose some polies in that area, and also on the barrel of the side weapons.
keep it up!

Thank you Simon.wt and arrangemonk for the feedback, it's just that i'm too much used to work on next-gen low poly models.
I've now reduced these polies to less rounded cilinders.

Cleaned wasted polies and started working on the tail and UV mapping.
I'm going to use one 1024 byte tga map.

arrangemonk > thanks for the maxUI i'll try it out.

Nice looking tank 2019. Brings back memories of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The three triangle pieces on top of the tank have what look like circles cut into the boxes underneath them or small cylinders. What are those for?

Yes, i agree that this one brings memories of Indiy J back, altough that tank had a turret on top.

But as i plan to model the whole MK series i should do this model too.

these circles underneath the piramids are exchaust pipes.

It has been a while since i've been working on this project.
I'm all done now with mapping so now it's just painting the skin.
