Hello,
I played with those shader in max and it's quite nice, but other than for realtime games that would be capable of those features, what other uses does this have?

Uncertain as of yet, infact uncertain even how useful it'll be beyond the Xbox, let alone PC games. There are something like 4 High Level Shading Languages competing with each other, plus translators for Renderman's shading language. Nvidia says Cg will be hardware independent, but it really doesn't work with anything but Nvidia cards right now, and programmers seem to be more interested in Open GL 2's HLSL for games and general purpose rendering. If the PS3 ships with an API based on Open GL 2, that'll pretty much kill Cg for Games. PC game developers will probably favor DX 9's HLSL for compatibility sake and maybe Open GL 2 to a lesser extent, and production hardware renderers will favor Open GL 2, or some sort of Renderman translator to Open GL 2. I think Cg is nice, but if you read some devloper forums it doesn't look like it will have much of a future.
