I recently migrated to this forum, after growing tired of the rather inane critique given at the Polykarbon forum. I've felt rather self conscious though, due to the relatively high quality of art posted here, and the fact that I don't think manga style art is particularly highly regarded. Either way, I'm in need of some help.

I've been working on a mascot for an online buddy's fanfiction site, and along the way I managed to stare myself blind to my picture, and messed up the depth. When it comes to lineart, I usually work by trying to add depth with only lines, and no shading... but I guess that came back and bit me in the ass. Either way, if anyone has any tips or draw-overs for my sketch, I would greatly appreciate it.

The problem is that I messed up the connection between the front and the back, and she now looks like only her elbows are touching the floor, and her chest is hovering above it. She's supposed to be resting on the floor, and writing on a pad.
The lack of lineweight will be addressed, and I'm planning to add some more detail to the clothing and hair, so there's no point in mentioning that. I just want to work out the depth/anatomy issues before I finish up the lineart for colouring.

Welcome Chastain

The two halves of the body seem to be on different plains and the twist between them looks unnatural. The face and chest area are drawn straight on while the bottom suggests that the upper body be at least a little twisted. I think that your main problem is that the abdominal area is really stretched. The chest should have started back where her top ends. Narrowing this and raising the upper body might help. Try, also, dropping her right shoulder a little, this could tie the upper and lowwer halves of her body by continuation of the curve of her back.
Consider adding a little weight to the head as it rests on her right hand and maybe the breast if they touch the floor aswell.

Good work so far, I hape this helps.

the parts that are good right now are the face, arms, shoulders, and breasts...and the legs and hips

the space in between honestly makes her look like a snake...definetly need to fix that pronto!
