CA's in max 5 can only include max 2 rigs that belong to the same parent, more then that like "hands to arm - arm to neck - neck&body to COM" is not possible.

(from the online reference: Any or all members of the character assembly can be linked to one single object outside the assembly, but no more than one. For example, ThighLeft and ThighRight, which are both part of the assembly, can both be linked to Pelvis which is not part of the assembly. However, if ThighLeft and ThighRight are each linked to different objects outside the assembly, the creation of the assembly will fail, and will show the following error message...)

my rig is very logical (described above) and doesn't work with this CA. Any workarounds besides rerigging the entire thing?

anyone? i realy gotta know this, CA's i max 5 are very handy (scaling entire rigs without problems, importing, exporting,....)

maybe there is a script that does the job?

How is your rig setup? I thought that this linking restriction only pertained to linking "outside" the character assembly --in other words, linking to something which is not included in the CA. Do you not include the parent that your rigs are linked to in the CA?
