Hi All! :)

At last i`ve ordered a new workstation to use with Maya 6.5, and i`m about to trash my old PC :)
But I`m wondering if anyone knows if there is a problem with installing my maya Licence on my new PC ? Or is it just to install the software and licence it, like i did the first time ?

It depends on the type of license you originally purchased. was it :

1. Node locked
2. Floting license
3. USB Dongle

If you have node locked then your only option it to apply for a change of license at alias.com. I think its alias.com/spar/ but not sure on that.

Floating License you set the computer with the license as the server computer and have your new workstation connected with a LAN and have the new computers license file point to the server computer. The server would always need to be running in this case.

USB dongle.... just take the dongle out of the old pc and into the new.

Hope this helped a little.

That page states that if you bought the software through a reseller then the lisence will be sent to them.....so, if you have an educational license and want to switch comps, then you apply for a new license and Alias sends it to JourneyEd?

Hmmm, In Max you have the portable license utility where you can manually export license to another computer. I guess I assumed that the Flex/lm was the same deal. So, if you plan on changing computers do you have to check your license in with Alias first?

It is node locked , And www.alias.com/spar seems to be the solution (thank you very much Six60Sicks ! )
So now i only have to wait for my new hardware to arrive :bounce: :bounce:

Thanx everyone for such quick response! :)
