View Full Version : resetting local CS ?!

can somebody tell me :

is it possible to reset the local coordinate system of an object ?!

as to be seen in the image at bottom, sometimes axis point in weird directions, so that it becomes a pain in the b+++ to correctly position geometry.

centering the pivot or switching between 'local' and 'global' doesn't bring any improvements to that issue, so what am i to do ?! :shrug:

thanks a lot

this topic is coming up regularly - i think i even had the same question a few months ago - yeah - there it is - http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11026&highlight=rotate+pivot

i'm with you

damn, i can't believe people didn't figure out how to solve this yet ... :eek:

i thought it was a just trivial, but annoying problem ... hmmmm ... thanks anyway, man ... :)

btw, what does pivot-toolbox help you with ?!

you could have looked that up yourself - fauler sack :)

well, to be honest, i immediately downloaded it after posting that dumb question. it's all about communication ! ;)

despite of that it's definitely true :
i'm just a laaazy motherf++++ :wip:

Ok pivot-toolbox doesn't cure this :hmm: but I found a workaround its dumb but it works (well for me) as in the above link I had a prob with the axis going all screwy when the object is rotated, so what I bascially did was create a primitive, parent the object with the messed up axis to that primitive, and then use the primitive to control the tranformations. It cured my mirroring prob so I'm happy. :)

yeah, i also figured out this workaround, but instead of using a primitve of choice i parented the objects to a locator, which doesn't clutter the scene too much and gives a nice visual representation! :thumbsup:

anyway, since this is a very popular issue, i can't believe why A|W didn't show any reactions yet.

who knows? :shrug:

thanks for updating this thread and the associated minds.
