View Full Version : blendShapes and mirror cluster weights?
amasen 10-13-2005, 05:04 AM I have been making my blendshapes for my face and have been running into a bunch of problems. The current one is that I'm working on is the jawOpen shape. The weights on the left side of the face are good and I would like to transfer them over to the other side of the face. I found a mirrorCluster script on these forums but I've been having problems getting it to work. I'm wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions for me. Thanks!

You could also symetrical UV's, then export a Map (Paint Blend Shape Weights Tool [ ] -> Export) Then horizontally switch in Photoshop and the import the map again.
Depending on the head, making symetrical UV's might be a little cumbersome though.

the best tool i have come across is Keegan's "flipshape" script. you select the default/base shape, then your posed shape, and it will create a mirroed mesh while keeping vertex order.
also included abTwoFace mel script, it will take a single posed mesh and create two split meshes (L + R), and lets you define the amount of taper/blend in the middle. works on asymetrical meshes too.
