Hi Raudue,
I keep meaning to reply to this. Now, I'm not the best painter on this site by a long way and there are probably many mistakes but I did a paint over on your guy to see how it would look:

So, I really upped your lighting scheme; just increased the brightness of the primary source and added a secondary green light source which gives more definition (and it's cool:D) although not necessary. Your image was just a bit flat, so I added more colours to the face all of which reflect a light source or an absence - lots of purple and blue in the shadows, green to the receding planes of the face (hope I interpreted the anatomy right) and red...just to to increase the interest. Also to add more vitality and form to the eye I shaded surrounding tones into it and added some highlight.
You could do a lot with the texture of the skin - great thing about aliens is they have no fixed norm, so you could make the surface shiny, pitted, scaled...here I left it pretty unreflective, but it all adds to the realism. All I can say is when painting just concentrate on forms first through blocking and shading, then add details, and I hope you will get better results.
This is all really quick so if you don't like it just ignore it and go here http://itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm which is the best tut I know of...:)
