Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a hair tute for Cinema 4D (R6)? I have been looking for one month on yahoo, renerosity, 3d commune, ask jeeves...I've even emailed people I know who work with c4d and have not received any answers.

It gets a little frustrating, but I am still looking. If any one knows how I could get one, or has one themselves, I would accept any help I can get.

Thanx in advance for your help!!:scream:

ParticleTarget >link from plugins works with 6.1
possibly hairfreak2000 would work also

As for a hair tutorial things are a bit sparce in that area....my advice would be to get yourself a plugin and have a play about....you could on an off chance search for a grass tut as the principle would be the same i suppose. hope this helps bud...good luck

I have hair dept - but the problem is that I have a hard time installing ti. Everytime I put it in the plugins folder, it crashes my c4d. Any suggestions on how to install properly? :hmm:

sorry bud absolutely no idea....
what sort of messages do you get?
what o/s you using?
what version of c4d are you using?
does it install into a folder?
dunno but does documentation help at all.....if all else fails there is a link to support which you could try using...

Here a quick tip on hair: youŽll need the Hair Department and SolidSpline plugins. Do your set up in Hair Department, but delete the geometry(polygons) that HD creates and keep the splines. Now assign a SolidSpline tag to those splines and the result will only appear when rendering. You wonŽt have thousands of polygons to slow you down in the viewport.

or you could try using remotion TDEM, i believe that one of teh tags for this allows you to render splines of the particle's paths, and then use solid splines pro as suggested above... failing that you can use TDEM to emit from your surface, then use the Particle Trails plugin from maxons website to create splines, and use solid splines on that... then there's the Ditools splinegen tool, or Dicloner to clone splines all over a surface, or you could shell out on Paul Everetts Surface paint (which i'm pretty certain you could at least paint on geometry hairs with).

I use c4d xl 6 under windows 98, when I out the hair dept folder into the c4d plugin folder, cinema 4d doesn't even load it stops on it then it says c4d has caused an illegal action or something along those lines then it won't start. The minute I take hd out of the plugins folder, it starts up perfectly.

Thanx for the support, will try your link!

Maybe you need an older version of Hairdepartment with Release 6? Please post the version number of your copy of HD.

Since I can't get in to find out what version # hd is, I looked at the readme stuff and found the verion I have is this version is a 1 to 1 conversion of the old version (C4D XL5.3).

So the version I have is the one after 1.7.:hmm:
