View Full Version : how do i make a towl! w/o textures!

i cant make this towel look right! ok i can make the object but how do i give it a good texture? i can only use bump maps. so how can i make it look fuzzy?

If you go to the Bhodinut forum and search in SLA for grass there is a shader there , one using SLA and ones using Chanlum. I think you might be able to make a decent towel with that. But it does use luminance channel - is that not OK.

I once tried to make salt in a pot look right using bump and displacement - never did manage it - sorry.

dunno about this one but awhile ago i'm sure mdme_sadie posted a reply to someone who was trying to make a realistic looking carpet....YEAH....I know you wanted a towel! But i think that technique would help.....only problem is i can't remember what he came up with....something about two layers of textures at angles over one another to give a feeling of depth. I think this would probably help get you started.

does anyone still have the SLA and Chanlum Grass from the mentioned bhodinut forum. since the forum is down, i can't get it anymore, just noticed i lost the file during a hd crash.
