View Full Version : which feet are right?
DArcy1 10-10-2005, 07:19 PM Hello all
Here is the figure of my WIP. I had thought that the smaller feet looked right, but on reflection did them a bit larger and now I can't figure out what looks most anatomically correct. Can anyone with a better sense of anatomy than mine help me out?
Thank you all

Aren't the feet the same size? The problem is the legs, I think both of them are too small!
I say, increase the size of the larger leg by 20% and you've got a correct(er) human.

Hi
Thanks for replying. You are right, it's actually both the feet and the legs at issue here. The feet on the longer legs are actually about 20% larger than the other, but perhaps a bit more is needed. Does the length of the larger legs look right?
tks

Here they are a bit bigger, I went back to my reference photo to try to get it right.

Nice start on this painting. The "best" is the the best. Also bigger feet look better on male figures. Small hands and feet tend to feminise a figure. I believe this might look better if the clothes had some blue-gray to match the sky or if the sky and ground had some violets & oranges in them to harmonize with the clothes on the figure. Really beautiful rendering on the clouds and figure. Keep going this is great.

The overall length of the leg looks okay, but the thigh looks too long and the shin too short -- There shouldn't be much difference in length, otherwise you wouldn't be able to kick yourself int the arse ;). Also, the ankle is too low.

i agree completely with ilikesup...the knee and ankle shuold be up, the feet should be bigger(in my opinion) and the hands, the toes also look a little short as well
