Hey,

Is there any reason that you can't bumpmap the flutes?

If not, make a nurbs circle with 39 sections. Select every third cv and then scale those in. Extrude this shape. Convert the nurbs to subds. Select the inside edges and crease them.

I'm sure this will not be exactly the way you want it but it will show you a way to get what you want.

I hope :-) and I assume that you have subdivision surfaces available. Nurbs will do the same thing with more cvs.

Does this make sense?

good luck,
ww

thank you ...

I wasn't even sure anyone reply to this problem, coz it seems to simple, but i could not figure it out... I was really frustrated, coz i was able to do it in max and not in maya.. haha..

I'll give it a try...

There is an option in Edit Polygons menu for breaking tangency on a curve. All it does is add 3 cv's on top of each other which creates a corner. Another way would be to simply make each leaf a separate curve and then attach them together with the keep shape option.

If you are more used to max's bezier splines, then check out the ezcurve plugin for maya.
