I want to do this in Lightwave.
It's pretty hard to explain what is this effect, it's best if I recall some known examples:
- many feature film opening titles (Matrix II, Buletproof monk butterfly)
- MiB ending, with zoom-out from a little planet to galaxy
- many impressive commercials, like the last one for Lexus, that I've seen on Discovery- (hyper-incredible stuff, it's done so good!)
- the opening/ending for "A bug's life"
- the dynamic satellite view, with fast zoom on a city or a single object
- many, many other examples
I'm sure that this zoom-in <-> zoom out effect puts a lot of problems. My questions would be:
1. does the whole effect have to be built as a single, giant scene, or could be separate in multiple composited zoom-outs? For the first option, how do I manage the camera in Lightwave, when I'm focusing on very little objects, in front of extremely big objects? For the second options, how do I blend the shots?
2. Do I have to build little objects with very little measure units, like milimeters, and bigger objects in kilometers or something? I'm sure there will be a lot of annoying OpenGL artifacts of clipping problems. how do I solve this?
3. Will be possible to use depth-of-field and motion blur, without a HUGE rendering hit?
4. What should I animate to obtain the right effect, the camera position, field-of-view of the camera, the zoom or all of this?
Thank you very much, guys! You're the best!
(and sorry for my english...)
