i had the tv done..think the material for the screen was not quite right (bitmap)...i was suppose to map either a MOV. or AVI. on it...
After setting the target spotlight, i proceed to Rendering menu > Enviroment>Volume Light parameters.....

that's where i'm stuck! Under "pick LIght" there was nothing to pick!

Me very new with 3ds max! will really appreciate for any form of help.... you folks came accross any similar tutorials ???

GOSH! THE TV HAD A BIG ROLE PLAY in my animation!!!

hmm if you created a light then it SHOULD be there under pick light.....but i'm not sure if i'd do the tv glow that way (that is what the volume light is for right?) just try putting a glow on the screen in video post

Have a look at Stephen Mack's websit - www.Gnomist.com (http://www.gnomist.com) - a beautiful, beautiful site. It's here thate he has posted a TV tutorial (http://www.gnomist.com/pages/art/tvs/index.html). Although it's a Lightwave tutorial, it's not a strech to apply it to 3DS MAX or any other application for that matter.

Here's the link to his final render (http://www.gnomist.com/pages/art/3d_gallery/tvs.html)

Hope this helps

I just tried to replicate this as a troubleshooter and found that it is easy to assume that the lights should show up in the list next to pick light,.. when really you need to hit the H key or simply click in the interface (viewport) to pick the light. This will add it to the list.

Attenuate the light source and tweak the volume density and you should be on your way!
