View Full Version : MR satellite cross platform error

Mentalray satellite in maya 7 seems to need a special permission method to use shared shaders. The satellite renders fine from within maya. The shaders are linked through a .mi file in the local maya/mentalray .rayrc file. The custom.mi file contains all the declerations for the custom shaders. Again, the setup works fine from within the ui. The problem, when I modify the .rayhosts file(adding only the machine name I am on. So technically, the machine is only looking for itself in the satellite render), I get an error like this:

"LINK 1.n error 191007: cannot Load //X-SERVE/Local_folders/RENDER/ray34/lib/mix20layer.dll. Access is Denied.
LINK 1.n error 191029: failed to link library on host "machineName"

permissions are 755 on all used directories. Anyone know whats happening here, and possibly how to fix it?
