View Full Version : Carmack goes to court to sue former colleagues.
Mr Elusive 10-04-2005, 10:02 PM "It's been revealed that Activision attempted to buy Doom developer (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/news.php?aid=11868#) id Software (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/news.php?aid=11868#) for USD 105 million last year after id co-founder Adrian Carmack launched a lawsuit against his former colleagues."
She also left the company, first I heard of this.

Hmm I vaguely remember a rumor floating around at one point that Activision was indeed planning to buy (into) ID ... which was quickly dismissed agan...
Don't think I care either way though, imo ID is not worth its name/hype ... they make good tech, but I can't say they make good games/storylines ...
Doom 3 was a sore dissapointment in that regard, the promises of an epic storyline, with an amazing intro where commandos would join the player in an all out aerial assault... where'd that go to?
Oh wait, didn't HALO 2 feature such action sequences? .........

They deserved to be sued for the way they treat former partners.
They have done the same to others, good for him to stand up to them. he owns 41% of the company so should get 40% of the market value.
He the masters of Doom book, its a good read and has some insight on how they get rid of partners.
