Any of the simply lightwave tutorials are good. But if you're just starting out, try some of the simpler ones free on the internet, found through Scott Cameron's site

Here's a list of videos.

Dan's got some courseware when you get ready. I think I got each one. Unless he's come up with a new one since 8. They're good for broad instrustion. I still think he should do a project based video series. It would be about as long as his current courseware. This would help from startup to finish. There seems to be quite a few questions there.

All of the sites mentioned above have a short free section which includes many of the entry level tutorials that you can check out first before buying them. Especially check out the NT site, there are some entry level tutorials for free under the "Introduction" section.
The videos by Todd Grimes (desktop Images) are amazing, best videos I have seen in a while. They may not be the best getting started ones, but if you are looking for ones later on you should definately give them consideration.
