View Full Version : Can't connect with Newtek.com
stevecullum 10-04-2005, 09:21 AM Hi all
I've been having trouble connecting with newtek.com from here in the UK and was wondering if anyone else has got problems? I think it could be a localised server issue as Ben Vost says he's got no issues.

It's OK from here in Maidenhead, UK. Wish I could help but are you sitting behind a firewall? As it been added as a site you can't access?

I've tried from another machine inthe building and same thing. I'm in Oxford, so it could be a local server problem. I don't have any issues with newtek-europe.com. It stopped working on Saturday. I posted a message in the forum and then I couldn't connect to see the reply. Not been able to since. Very weired!!

I've just reset the Hub and things are working again! Bizzare technology problem.
On a similar note, today I can't connect to Newtek or the forums - anybody else?

Everything ok here, NT Forums had a little stop today but it works ok now.
Wierd. I keep timing out on connect. Aiight - time to reboot and shock the hub, I guess. Thanks for the info Exper!
WTF!?!?
I've rebooted my machine, my switch, and my hub - I still cannot connect to Newtek and/or the forum and/or the Lightwave page! I keep getting timeout errors - anybody have any ideas? I can see it now - 8.5 will be released, and I won't be able to get the derned download.

Running fine here...I hope it will be fixed soon !
Ok - oddness continues. I just checked with my wife at work (we're both in the US) and she can connect just fine. I can't, though. So it appears as though it may not be a wholesale US issue.

Hmm might have to try connecting with some freinds systems. I've tried multiple systems at home and none of them will connect to Newteks U.S. site. I can connect to Newtek Europe with no problems though.

This seems an ISP related problem or a NT's DNS one (who knows).
Seems that Level 3 (a major ISP) has disconnected Cogent (another major ISP) from their network resulting in many servers beeing cutoff. Alternative connections seem to be scarse.
Sorry, i only got a link in german to this http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/64661
Not sure of course if this applies here, but it might be the reason.
Cheers

HA! :bounce: It's baaaack! woo-hoo!

Just ran across this bit of info.
"Both Roadrunner and Cogent users are complaining about a level 3 decision to turn off public peering with Cogent, likely because of an ongoing peering and contract spat. As a result, many broadband users can't hit websites such as Photo Bucket or The Drudge Report. Customers who call in for support are being told that the network partners are working on a resolution, but aren't given an ETA."
