Nearly 65 years after the first books by the late illustrator/writer duo H.A. Rey and his wife, Margret, were published, the Curious George movie is an ink-and-pen animated film rather than the computerized animation currently in vogue. (Related story: Animated George takes flight (http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2005-10-02-curious-george-inside_x.htm))

"It has a very painterly feel, as opposed to high-gloss," says director Matthew O'Callaghan.

The Curious George trailer arrives in theaters Friday with Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit."

Anybody know who's animating the movie? It looks cute- not spectular though, maybe a little better than your average tv cartoon, but the style totally fits with curious george.

I once wrote and pitched a curious george book: curious george and the chainsaw, where george finds a chainsaw and a hockey mask in the mans closet, which leads to fun adventures! They were mildly amused but ultimately decided not to go with it.

Oh lovely 2D animation has not forsaken me. All that 3D computerized Pixar's Incredible, Advent Children-of-the-Damned stuff is starting to dull my visual cortex. Gladly,Curious George is keeping with its origins as an illustrated book, rather then going the way of polygons. Thank you! If they had pulled a Polar Express with Motion Capture I would have freaked and I'm sure many other George fans would too. I'm definitely looking forward to this film. Though I wasn't heavy on the Curious George series as some other children, I did grow to love the illustrative style... hense my interest in commercial art and illustration.

I'm glad they didn't do it like just an animated monkey and the rest Brendan Fraser in a yellow hat.

This looks like something that normally I'd skip ~ it seems almost like a nickelodeon thing ~ but just the fact that it is the only 2D film makes it seem worth seeing. I wonder if the animators who worked on this found other work ~ I guess it wouldn't be on features if there aren't any others?
