View Full Version : Cartoon 4-armed alien WIP
Kangaroo Number One 10-03-2005, 05:38 PM Pretty self-explanatory... I'm gonna whip through this project if I can... I'm learning a lot about edgeloops and such... Gonna try modeling the upper torso today, finish modeling tomorrow, then it's off to ZBrush for displacements and bump and texturing! Critiques anyone?

Thx for the replies you guys! Here's the guy so far... he doesn't have much work to do... tomorrow I'm gonna bind him, pose him, global illuminate him and such. What do you guys think? Is the SSS too heavy-handed? I'm trying to figure out a way to get the bump/displacement work to show up a bit more sharply against the SSS. Suggestions?

Excellent  Just promise me something- when you finish, have him in a pose, DOING something with those arms instead of just having them straight out his sides like he's being checked at airport security. (Like the other 4armed characters around here)

Thanks for the comments! I'm definitely gonna animate this character, but I'm still working on a good skeleton... I don't know much about soft binds, so I'm fumbling with paint weights... For now, however (for my demo reel) he'll be in this position. heheh you're right, it's kind of annoying seeing all these airport-security models! That's why I wanted to pose him for my demo reel.
He's not from a video game, he started from a version of an alien I did for a short movie I made, but he's way way better (not that he's great, but the other guy was pretty weak). Comments?
