wallyFX 10-03-2005, 05:04 PM HI there!
ok, my maya camera is synched now. but if i want to render trees or plants in vue and other objects in maya. where do i have to place the maya geometrie in vue [x,y,z] so that both render [maya and vue] match together in da post afterwards.
can i use the same grid tiling or how do you guys match your geometrie in vue and maya???
greetings,
wally

I can't speak for Maya but I've messed with this in both XSI and Max. Early tests with simple objects I just exported as obj from Vue and imported to XSI, setting the translations by hand. You need to swap the Y and Z and negate the Z for position. Scales, in an odd sort of way seem to take care of themselves.
Then I started working with some of our larger Vue scenes and that's where it all started to go pear shaped. For some reason these objects when imported, the translations and scales in XSI or Max bear no relationship to those in Vue. I also tried the 3ds export and still, the translations don't go over and don't match in Xsi or Max. I'm out of time for messing with this now and we're bypassing the problem but if you find anything out I'd love to know.
