I've been looking all over the place for a tutorial on modeling robots or mechs in Cinema 4D. I haven't been able to find anything. If anyone knows of a tutorial and could post a link I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Try modeling somthing simpler to start with, I don't know how well your skills are in c4d but honestly mechs are just boxes with features added to them and stacked in the desiered location. I know there was a mech totorial over around c4d portal. It might give you some place to start. If all else fails just model what you feel into a robot.

since I started in truespace all the good meshes where for other apps.
if u know the tools u can make there mesh.
so I look at wireframes
do a robot / mech search here n at turbo squad.
if u look at there wire frame then u get the idea of what your topology should be like.
just like every ones human topology is pretty much the same.

if u looken for exact fits hyperNURBS might not be the best way to go.

It might help to get some expertise in in-organic modeling. 3D Fluff has some nice stuff in their DVD series on modeling "designed" objects including: http://dvd.3dfluff.com/vol3_1.htm

The "How to Draw Manga" series also has some great stuff on designing Giant Robots and Mechs in the Japanese style. (Volumes 12 & 32). You can take a peak at www.howtodrawmanga.com or I think Amazon caries them.

www.simplylightwave.com has one on a 'mech' type model for modeling and texturing. You may want to download any of the free vids to see if you like.

Yes its lightwave but in the end its all technique. I'll watch maya vids to get a handle on a concept and apply it in C4D. Honestly, you learn better as well as you learn the technique and not follow a point and click session.
