try turning off hyperthreading and check the softimage website for the supported drivers. See if that helps.

Hey thanks for replying.Well i folowed your advice and disabled the hyperthreding and it seems to cure my constant crashes.Hopefully it will stay like that but i also want to know is if its ok to have hyperthread disabled permanently or should i just do it when i run xsi. What i need to know is is my pc gona suffer performance wise if i have this option disabled.
Thanks!

I've had heaps of problems with hyperthreading enabled, not only eith XSI, but with all kinds of apps doing a more thourough job on the CPU, like AfterFX, Digital Fusion etc.
After turning it off I never had any problems. Yes, you will suffer some performance loss, but what's better. rendering an hour longer or restarting the app every ten minutes ;)

why are you running xsi advanced in windows xp 32 bit? isn't that only a 64 bit app?

Essentials and Advanced are both available as 32 bit and 64 bit. Would be quite cut-throat of SI to force all their non Foundation user base to upgrade their platforms to 64 bit don't you think? :)

bravmm: Thanks for setting me on a strait path and i definetely will keep hyperthread off for now and see how xsi behaves.I never had any problems before like with 4.2 though so its very strange.I hope Softimage will come up with some kind of a solution like a patch or something.
Cheers!

I'm getting a lot of crashing in Foundation as well. About one crash every 30 minutes on random things. Is 5.0 totally stable for everyone else? I'm running Athlon proc, Windows 2000 SP4 and a Quadro card, if that matters.
