Hi everyone, I'm new to 3d Animation and was wondering if a few people could fill me in on some info.

I'm not familiar with what the difference is between the industry leading software. From what I've been told, Maya is more of a movie industry program [although it's used in video games as well], and Max is more of a gaming program [ though I've seen some films with effects done in Max].

I want to get started on learning Max, but I don't want to invest too much time into something I won't be using much in the future, though I do want to be a Jack of all trades.

And if you people are honest and really DO think that Max is my best bet, I was wondering if you could refer me to some books for beginners, or perhaps some online tutorials [i searched the tutorial threads but only found ones for people who have a grasp of max already]. Thanks in advance,

-Hyphen

okay dont want to confuse u any further i suggest u start using any app that u have, max preferably ,learn how to use various operations in a 3d package and once ur familiar with animation terms and operations u can then start to experiment with other appz and then decide what u want to do.
my guess is once u start usin max u will get hooked onto it, its come a long way and what ever limitations it has can be compensated by using it together with other packages.
im not being fair to the other appz but im speakin from experiencing lots of time spent on all the appz.

this is just to get u started , remember u have to decide on ur own whts best for u and the same goes for all of us.

have fun buddy and dont spend too much sleepless nites, remember this work is fun only if u enjoy it, otherwise u wasting a lotof time.
